Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Auto burglary—May 1, 5:30 p.m., Westlynn Way and De Foe Drive. Sometime over a period of two days, an unknown person(s) smashed the side window of a vehicle and stole the in-dash stereo system.

Grand theft from an auto—May 1, 12:30 p.m., Valley Green Drive and Beardon Avenue. During a one-hour time frame, an unknown person(s) stole three duffle bags from the trunk of a parked vehicle. The bags contained $1,200 worth of merchandise. The owner may have failed to make sure he properly closed the trunk. There were no signs of forced entry.

Landscaping theft—April 30, 1:05 p.m., 22300 block of Creston Drive. An unknown person(s) stole a Japanese maple tree from the backyard of a home.

Auto burglary—April 28, 5 p.m., 20900 block of Valley Green Drive. Sometime during the day, an unknown person(s) smashed the window of a parked vehicle and stole the in-dash stereo system.

Run away with a stolen purse—April 28, 7 a.m., 23500 block of Oak Valley Road. The victim left her purse on top of her car as she drove away from home. Less than 40 minutes later a neighbor was following a blue Honda in the same area and saw the passenger throw the purse out the window. She stopped and picked up the purse and returned it to the victim. The victim reported that $200 in cash was missing. Two men in the car are described as Hispanic. One was wearing a red hat and the other was wearing a green hat with the words "John Deere" on it. The last four characters of the license plate were similar to L663.

Mail theft—April 25, 4:30 p.m., 10900 block of Lucky Oak Street. An unknown person(s) stole outgoing mail from the victim's mailbox. The mail contained two personal checks. The victim found the envelopes empty.
