Monta Vista teachers
receive cash awards
Two Monta Vista High School teachers have now gotten more than electronics advice from RadioShack--$3,000 in cash awards, to be exact.
Travis Hambleton and Katheryn McElwee, both science teachers at Monta Vista, have received RadioShack National Teacher Awards. The program honors 110 science, math and technology teachers each year.
Nominations are made by school principals or previous award winners. Only 12 teachers in the state of California were selected for the award.
Hambleton, who has taught for four years, handles college prep and advanced placement chemistry at Monta Vista. McElwee teaches biology and physiology and has been teaching for six years.
