The city of Cupertino and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office will hold a free presentation on identity theft May 27 between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. at Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road.

Experts from the U.S. Postal Service, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office and the district attorney's office will present important identity-theft-prevention information.

All members of the public are invited and do not need to make reservations.

Cupertino chamber to
address HR in forum

It may seem a waste for a small business to employ someone in human resources, but the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce hopes to prove otherwise.

On May 19, the chamber hosts a Cupertino Small Business Forum, addressing the "Top 10 Ways HR Can Protect Your Business." Karen E. Purtich, the principle of Purtich & Associates and a co-founder of the Small Business Forum, will speak on her 20 years of experience with human resources.

National Trails Day

All hikers and gonna be hikers can help spruce up one of the trails at Stevens Creek County Park in Cupertino during National Trails Day, June 5.

The Santa Clara Department of Parks and Recreation along with REI, a retail business selling outdoor/sports gear, are hosting a trail maintenance project that day for pruning overgrowth on the Tony Look Trail.

No prior experience is necessary, and the park staff will provide all tools and supervision.

Each participant will receive a commemorative T-shirt at the end of the project. But because the group size is limited to 40, pre-registration is recommended.
