Lipton a winner
Allie Lipton, who just completed her junior year at Monta Vista, won the Northern California Junior Excellence tennis tournament title. Lipton defeated Jennifer Yen in straight sets in the finals of the three-day invitational tournament.
Lipton, who didn't drop a single set in the tourney, earned the NorCal No. 1 ranking by virtue of her Excellence victory. She was to play in the Maze Cup tournament last weekend with the best players in NorCal facing the top players from Southern Cal.
AYSO sign-ups
Registration for the Cupertino AYSO Region 35 fall recreation soccer season will be held June 12, 10 a.m.2 p.m., at the Union Church of Cupertino, 20900 Stevens Creeks Blvd. (next to Whole Foods).

Soccer sign-ups
The De Anza Youth Soccer League will hold registration for the fall season on June 12, 35 p.m., at Creekside Park. Boys and girls ages 510 are eligible.
Teams will be coached by parent volunteers and practices will be run by professional trainers. Under 6 teams will play all of their games in Cupertino, and the under 8 and under 10 teams will play half of their games in Cupertino and the other half locally.
The registration fee is $125 per player and includes USYSA membership fee, a uniform (shirt, shorts, and socks), a ball, injury insurance, participation awards and a picture package. Financial assistance is available for players in need.
