Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Found Property—Sept. 5, 6:00 p.m., Rosemarie Place at Miller Avenue. After a fight occurred on Rosemarie Place, the parties involved fled the scene. A knife and video were found in the street, which neighbors said belonged to those involved in the fight. The items were booked at the West Valley Substation.

Commercial Burglary/Grand Theft/Fraudulent Checks—Sept. 5, 5:49 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. A woman entered a department store and passed a lost or stolen check for $61.77 after presenting a driver's license for verification. After the sale was approved, the woman then presented three additional checks to purchase $1,000 worth of gift cards. The woman left the store and remains at large.

Animals Running at Large—Sept. 5, 10:00 a.m., Leeds Avenue. San Jose Animal Control found two dogs running loose. The animal control officer located the dog's owner, who was cited and released by a sheriff's deputy.

Drunk in Public—Sept. 4, 9:45 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard at Anton Way. A man was found staggering and stepping into traffic. He displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol, including bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He was unable to care for himself and was arrested and booked into the main jail.

Auto Burglary—Sept. 3, 4:57 p.m., Valley Green Drive. A vehicle's rear wing window was broken by an unknown person to gain entry. A car stereo and CD changer worth a combined $300 were taken. The burglar fled in an unknown direction and is at large.
