Library closed six weeks for the move to new digs
Cupertino closed the books on its temporary library Sept. 14.

Mary-Ann Wallace, a community librarian at the library, said the library will be closed six weeks to allow staff time to move materials and set up the new facility. Some of the library's collection has been in storage since the opening of the temporary library in 2002.

"It will be very exciting and have lots of wonderful features," Wallace said of the new library. These features include an outdoor patio enclosed by the building, a 60-foot saltwater aquarium and teen study rooms. And increased space in the new library will allow for double the amount of material available to the public.

Until the new library opens Oct. 30, Cupertino residents are encouraged to use (and return books to) nearby Santa Clara County libraries including those in Saratoga, Los Altos and Campbell.

The Cupertino Library Campaign (www.cupertinolibrary.org) also continues to seek donations toward its goal of raising $1.2 million for the cost of the new library's furniture, fixtures and equipment. For information call 408.446.1677.
