The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Forgery/Petty Theft/Forgery; Fictitious Checks—Sept. 19, 4:20 p.m., Peppertree Lane. An unidentified person stole an outgoing check from a victim's residential mailbox and created at least 21 false checks using the victim's checking account number. The checks were used to purchase goods and services valuing $2,410.42. The original check was stolen sometime after July 20.
Petty Theft—Sept. 19, 4 p.m., Bandley Drive at Stevens Creek Boulevard. Twelve grocery items were taken from a store without payment. A suspect was cited and released at the scene. The total value of the goods was $13.73.
Burglary (Vehicle)—Sept. 19, 7 a.m., Town Center Lane. An unknown individual broke the rear passenger door wing window of a vehicle parked overnight in a medical business parking lot. The vehicle was locked but did not have an alarm. A medical uniform shirt was taken, and the suspect damaged the dashboard surrounding the stereo, but did not take it. Two latent prints were recorded.
Grand Theft (Vehicle Tires)—Sept. 19, 1:16 p.m., McClellan Road. The right front and right rear tires and rims were removed from a car parked overnight at the victim's apartment complex. The total value of the theft was $450.
Controlled Substance—Sept. 19, 12:27 p.m., Lucille Avenue at Randy Lane. Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person, who was found digging holes with his hands on private property. The man was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and booked.
