Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Vandalism—Oct. 3, 12:45 p.m., Alcazar Avenue. A sheriff's deputy responded to a vandalism call when the driver's side rearview mirror was broken off a vehicle and left lying on the ground. There are no suspects.

Auto Burglary—Oct. 3, 6:45 p.m., Homestead Road. A man broke into a 1994 Ford pickup truck by breaking the driver's side window. The truck's owner interrupted the man as he was searching the interior. The man then exited the pickup and fled into an apartment occupied by a married couple. After running out of the apartment, the man was stopped by the truck's owner and the husband from the apartment. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety took the man into custody and booked him into the Main Jail.

Petty Theft—Oct. 2, 12:05 p.m., Linda Vista Drive. The front emblem was stolen off a Mercedes parked overnight in front of the victim's house. Auto Burglary—Oct. 2, 2:10 p.m., Finch Avenue. A blue handicap placard was stolen from a vehicle between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 30. The vehicle's owner reported the theft two days after it occurred. There are no suspects.

Petty Theft—Oct. 2, 4:30 p.m., N. Wolfe Road. A shopper at Vallco Fashion Park left a shopping bag on a display table while trying on shoes. The bag contained seven T-shirts, one jersey, one pair of shorts and an exercise jacket containing two bank account statements. An unknown suspect took the bag. A loss-prevention officer reviewed the videotape taken at the time of the theft but could not find the incident described.
