The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Grand Theft—Jan. 9, 8:45 p.m., Homestead Road at Franco Court. A Japanese tourist tried on clothes at a retail store. Upon returning to his hotel room, he found his pouch missing from his belt and recalled that it was last attached while he was at the store. He returned to search for his pouch, which contained $1,900 in combined American and Japanese currency, but he was unable to find it. No one has contacted the police to report the missing property.
Public Intoxication—Jan. 9, 6:30 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard at Lawrence Expressway. An officer saw a man walking with an unsteady gait. Upon investigation, the man also had slurred speech, the odor of alcohol on his breath and he was carrying an open container of alcohol that he dropped when he nearly fell down. The officer arrested the man and booked him into the main jail.
Burglary (Residential)—Jan. 8, 9:48 p.m., Bonny Drive. Between 3:15 and 9:35 p.m., unknown person(s) broke a window on a rear door of a house. The person used tools taken from the victim's garage to pry open a safe in the bedroom closet and took approximately $10,000 in jewelry.
Burglary (Residential)—Jan. 8, 8:26 p.m., Stanford Place. An unknown person entered a house through an open bathroom window. After searching the master bedroom, the person took $1,200 in jewelry. The person remains at large.
