Brett Michael Bartlett, 25, was arraigned on Thursday on one count of statutory rape in connection an alleged 2-month sexual relationship with a 16-year old student, and one count of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a minor in connection with a second 15-year old.

Bartlett currently lives in Campbell and had been teaching at Homestead for three years.

He was originally arrested and charged with two felonies, oral copulation and unlawful sexual intercourse. Sheriff's deputies say they uncovered the relationship with the 15-year old during the investigation into those charges.

The 16-year-old student admitted to the relationship to investigators earlier in the day. Bartlett was taken to the main jail in San Jose after the first arrest and booked without incident. His bail was set at $30,000 and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

If convicted, Bartlett faces a maximum sentence of three years and eight months in state prison. At the time of his arrest, Bartlett admitted to the relationship with the 16-year old girl.

Homestead High School and the Fremont Union High School District could not comment on the case because it was a personnel matter. Bartlett could not be reached for comment.

Sunnyvale resident Jeffery Stuart Poe was arrested on Feb. 4 as a suspect in a string of incidents at Cupertino and Saratoga Middle School campuses.

According to witnesses, Poe was seen at several schools during January of this year, dressed like a woman in a white sports bra and red "short shorts." He would stand near school campuses, expose his penis, and masturbate before fleeing the scene. He was last seen outside Kennedy Middle School. A witness there recorded his license plate number when he fled the scene, which led to his arrest.
