Day laborers at Home
Depot shouldn't be judged

A few weeks ago, a fellow Cupertino resident implied that negative feelings toward day labors at Home Depot are not rooted in racism but rather in common sense.

According to him, these workers can be likened to the BTK murderer simply because, well, because they're "a good bunch" Unfortunately, the world doesn't operate under the paranoid assumption that everyone is suspicious.

I don't buy his claim that we live in a criminal and violent society.

Cupertino has had zero murders as far as I can remember and a crime rate any large city's mayor would long for.

However, I do believe that we live in a society built on opportunity. It's about time we give these men a fair chance.
