The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Criminal Threat--Feb. 4, 8:55 p.m., Waterford Drive. A man found an envelope on his driveway that contained a letter with the words "anthrax" and racial threats. The envelope also contained white powder that the fire department determined was not anthrax. The person(s) responsible is at large.
Restraint Dogs--Feb. 3, 1:10 p.m., Imperial Avenue. A sheriff's officer observed three unsecured pit bulls on Imperial Avenue. The officer contacted the dogs' owners and cited them for violating a city ordinance.
Possession of Methamphetamine--Feb. 2, 9:58 p.m., Empire Avenue. A sheriff's officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration. He noticed the driver had symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant. The person also had a bag of methamphetamine. The officer booked the person into the main jail.
Child Endangerment--Feb. 1, 10 p.m., Peach Blossom Drive. A mother reported an occupational therapist attempted to smother her 5-year-old daughter. The woman said she saw the therapist holding two pillows over the daughter's face. The therapist explained she was trying to restrain the child and make her participate in therapy. There was no injury.
Vehicle Burglary--Feb. 1,
8 a.m., N. Stelling Avenue. A woman returned to her locked car and found the right rear passenger window had been broken. Her day planner containing credit cards and bank account information was taken. The person(s) responsible is at large.
Possession of Paraphernalia--Jan. 31, 4:18 p.m., De Anza Boulevard. A sheriff's officer stopped a vehicle for a cracked windshield and noticed the driver appeared anxious. The officer located a glass pipe of the type used to smoke methamphetamine and booked the man into the main jail.
Prostitution--Jan. 25, 5 p.m., Pruneridge Avenue. A sheriff's officer posed as a customer, went to a woman's apartment and paid her $160 for a sexual transaction. The woman took the money, disrobed and attempted undress the officer.
