Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's westside substation.

Vandalism--May 6, 11:58 p.m., N. Blaney Avenue. A sheriff's officer responded to a report of a juvenile disturbance. The officer found no suspects, but did find spray cans, a backpack and a cellular phone. An acquaintance of the cell phone owner later falsely reported the cell phone stolen. Both the cell phone owner and the acquaintance were cited, and the phone owner was also booked into the main jail.

Grand Theft--May 6, 10:45 a.m., S. Stelling Road. An unknown suspect or suspects stole a $600 amplifier/mixer from a church. There was no forced entry. No arrests have been made.

Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale--May 5, 8:57 p.m., Stern Avenue. A sheriff's officer stopped a vehicle for a violation. A passenger admitted to having methamphetamine on her person. The officer arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant and the passenger for possession for sales. Both were booked into the main jail.

Possession of Paraphernalia--May 5, 6:45 p.m., Homestead Road at De Anza Boulevard. A sheriff's officer made contact with a pedestrian who displayed symptoms of being under the influence. The officer searched the person's duffle bag and found a glass methamphetamine pipe and a digital scale with methamphetamine residue. The officer arrested the pedestrian on charges of possession.

Burglary (Commercial)--May 3, 1:58 a.m., S. De Anza. A locked retail store was entered by someone who pried open the front door. The suspect(s) then stole five bicycles and a repair stand. The value of the items is estimated to be $28,000.
