Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's westside substation.

Burglary (Commercial)--July 9, 9:42 p.m., De Anza Boulevard. A sheriff's officer stopped a vehicle for a broken turn signal. The driver did not have a license, and a passenger was a parolee. A search of the vehicle yielded 111 over-the-counter medications in original and sealed packaging. Authorities said the driver's sister had stolen the medications so the others could get refunds for them.

Petty Theft--July 7, 3:15 p.m., Granada Avenue. A woman stole three planted flowers and fled down Granada toward Imperial Avenue. The estimated value of the plants is $60.

Threats--July 6, 12:35 p.m., Loree Avenue. At a residence, a man grabbed a black samurai sword and threatened to chop off the head of his 22-year old son. He then threatened his family. The wife wrestled the sword from her husband and secured it in a car trunk.

Burglary Residential--July 6, 11:09 p.m., Wunderlich Avenue. A person entered a residence by forcing a sliding glass door. The person(s) took $1,500 in electronic equipment and jewelry.

Grand Theft of Dog--July 5, 5:15 p.m., Palm Avenue. A woman reported a missing pit bull terrier. She had been playing outside with two pit bulls, left briefly, then returned and found one missing. In the past, a man had threatened to take one of the dogs after being evicted.

Burglary (Commercial)--July 5, 7:45 a.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. An unknown person(s) pried opened a shared rear door of two businesses. The person(s) then took flat-screen computer monitors, a television and two briefcases.
