Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's westside substation.

Possession of Methamphetamine--Aug. 23, 7:40 p.m., Stern Avenue. A sheriff's officer stopped to talk with a person and found he displayed symptoms of being under the influence of methamphetamine. The officer searched the man's backpack and found methamphetamine, five hypodermic needles and a methamphetamine pipe. The officer took the man to the main jail.

Grand Theft--Aug. 25, 11 a.m., Mariani Avenue. An unknown person(s) walked into a computer plant and stole four laptop computers from a storage closet. The computers were valued at $1,200.

Found Bicycle--Aug. 26, 3 a.m., Creekside Park. A sheriff's officer found a red Kona mountain bike abandoned in a park. The bicycle was taken to a storage yard.

Burglary (Vehicle)--Aug. 26, 10:30 a.m., Flowering Pear Drive. A person returned to his pickup truck and found a locked tool box cut open. An unknown person(s) took tools valued at $700.

Petty Theft--Aug. 26, 1:11 p.m., Defoe Drive. A woman returned home and found her mailbox and mail missing. The person(s) responsible are unknown and at large.

Grand Theft--Aug. 26, 7:30 p.m., Tilson Avenue. An unknown person(s) stole jewelry from a bedroom. The value of the jewelry is $5,350. The person(s) responsible are at large.

Burglary (Auto)--Aug. 27, 10:30 a.m., Stevens Canyon Road. An unknown person(s) broke into a vehicle by throwing a rock through a right front passenger window. The person(s) then stole a $300 GPS navigation system.
