New Courier editor has roots in the community
Michael Cronk has been named editor of the Cupertino Courier, according to Dale Bryant, executive editor of Silicon Valley Community Newspapers. In addition, he will serve as editor of the Sunnyvale Sun.
Cronk spent 35 years as a staff writer for the San Jose Mercury News, covering a broad range of stories from city government and police to schools and features. He has reported from all the cities in the West Valley at one time or another during his journalism career, including working as a beat reporter in Cupertino and Sunnyvale for many years.
"Because he knows these communities well, Michael will be able to hit the ground running," said Bryant. "He is committed to looking beneath the surface at the issues and concerns of all the residents."
"I'm excited to be back and involved in covering two of the most interesting, diverse and dynamic communities in the Santa Clara Valley,'' Cronk said. "Community news has always been a primary focus for me.''
Cronk, a San Francisco native, earned a journalism degree from San José State University. He and his wife, Diane McNutt, a business owner and member of the Los Gatos Town Council, have lived in Los Gatos for 34 years.
