Vallco name change
is applauded

There seems to be some modicum of controversy about the name change of Vallco Fashion Park to Cupertino Square.

According to a columnist in the Mercury News, there is history involved in the name Vallco, and therefore it should remain as it is.

However, since it is a business entity and not a public park or venerable old building, I applaud the Vallco management team for wanting to turn around the less than stellar reputation they inherited when they purchased the ailing mall. A new concept deserves a fresh banner to identify itself.

Cupertino Square not only spells out where the mall is located, it enhances the perception that it is also a place to shop, dine, see a movie, be entertained and meet with friends.
