By Crystal Lu
Since I was out of town for the dedication of the veterans memorial project at A man found dead by the side of Interstate 280 near De Anza Boulevard was identified on Nov. 29 as Edwin Ramirez, 19, of Reno.
He was found on May 22 at 11:33 a.m. with unspecified wounds and evidence of extensive bleeding, officials said at the time, adding that his fingers were skeletalized and were soaked for prints.
Detectives unsuccessfully searched missing person reports in California, eventually identifying him with the help of the Reno Police Department.
Officials did not release information about the manner and cause of his death because the investigation is still under way. They ask that anyone with information relating to Ramirez's death or about his friends or associates in the Bay Area to call Sgt. Ken Binder at 408.808.4500 or the Anonymous Tip Line at 408.808.4431.
