Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Hit and run--Jan. 20, 5:56 p.m., McClellan Road. A vehicle hit a man walking across a crosswalk and drove away.
Grand theft--Jan. 20, 12:40 p.m., Vallco Parkway. A woman was sitting in a parked vehicle when a man opened an unlocked door of the car and took her purse. The value of the purse and the items in it was $446.
Commercial burglary--Jan. 20, 10:36 a.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. A store staff member reported that someone had entered the store overnight and stole an $800 TV set.
Auto burglary--Jan. 20, 9:40 a.m., Alves Drive. A woman returned to her parked Nissan van and found the passenger side window broken and her purse missing. The loss was estimated at $330.
Identity theft--Jan. 19, 2:08 p.m., Mary Avenue. A man reported that someone had made an automatic check withdrawal of $620 from his account. A possible suspect has been identified.
Burglary, auto theft--Jan. 19, 7:30 a.m., Rae Lane. When a man was out of town, someone entered his bedroom and took $375 in cash. The burglar also took a car key and stole the victim's 1997 BMW.
Soliciting without permit--Jan. 18, 6:50 p.m., Stelling Road. A man selling books door to door was cited for not having a permit.
Unlawful weapon, minor in possession of alcohol--Jan. 17, 9:59 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. A deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During a consent vehicle search, the deputy discovered an 18-inch-long club and bottles of alcohol. The driver and passenger were both under age 21.
Petty theft--Jan. 17, 1:18 p.m., Wolfe Road. A woman entered the fitting room of a store with earrings and a shirt. She put on the shirt and hid the earrings in her purse. Then she exited the store without paying. The value of the stolen items was $127.
Petty theft--Jan. 17, 7:45 a.m., Canyon Oak Way. Two canvas bags containing gym clothes were stolen from a car. The victim saw a suspect take the bags and ran after him. However, the perpetrator got into a white car and drove away.
Petty theft--Jan. 13, 4:30 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. A store reported that its surveillance camera had filmed a man stealing video games on Jan. 11 and Jan. 13. The value of the video games was $142. The suspect was cited and released.
Drunk in public--Jan. 12, 9 p.m., Tantau Avenue. A man passed out behind a market with three empty vodka bottles. When a deputy woke him up, he wasn't able to stand on his own. The deputy arrested him and booked him into the main jail.
Possession of stolen property--Jan 11, 12:55 p.m., Finch Avenue. A deputy interrogated a student about a stolen iPod. The student confessed that he had conspired with another student numerous times to steal items from the school locker room. The student was cited and released to his mother. The deputy was unable to find the other student.
Auto burglary--Jan. 8, 8 p.m, Wolfe Road. A man returned to his 2008 Dodge after having dinner at a restaurant and found a window of the car broken. His laptop, worth $2,000, and an iPod, worth $150, were gone.
