Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Commercial burglary--Feb. 3, 5:05, Stevens Creek Boulevard. A man exited a store with a cart full of merchandise that he didn't pay for and loaded the merchandise in the trunk of a vehicle waiting for him outside the store. The two suspects drove away.

Stolen vehicle recovered--Feb. 3, 12:16 p.m., Ainsworth Drive. A deputy located an unoccupied stolen vehicle out of Livermore while searching for a suspect.

Auto burglary--Feb. 2, 12:55 p.m., Finch Drive. A woman reported that someone had smashed the right rear window of her Honda van and stolen her purse from the back seat.

Grand theft--Feb. 2, 8:05 a.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. A woman returned to her SUV in a parking garage and found her laptop and other belongings missing from the vehicle. There was no sign of forced entry. The woman doesn't remember if she locked the vehicle.

Vehicle theft--Feb. 1, 10:20,p.m., Stevens Creek Blvd. A man returned home from a trip and found his motorcycle missing from his designated parking spot in his apartment complex.

Stolen vehicle recovered--Feb. 1, 6:20 p.m., Melisa Court. A deputy recovered a vehicle stolen out of San Jose.

Intent to defraud--Feb. 1, 4:12 p.m., Stelling Road. A man received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS. The caller said the IRS would need the man's bank account number and routing number to give him a refund. The man provided both. Then he felt wrong about it and reported it to the police.

Auto burglary--Jan. 31, 8:25 p.m., Alves Drive. A woman reported that someone had smashed the front passenger's side window of her Acura. The suspect stole a purse with credit cards and a $5,000 pair of diamond earrings in it.

Missing person--Jan. 31, 11 a.m., Placer Spring Court. A woman left for Los Angeles for a short trip with her boyfriend. Her family hasn't heard from her since.
