Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled form reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Assault and battery--Feb. 24, 10 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. A man said he was sitting inside his vehicle in a parking lot when an assailant opened the driver's door and kicked the victim in his left chest and shoulder. The man had no marks or complaint of pain. The suspect is still at large.

Assault on a Peace Officer--Feb. 24, 12:53 p.m., Infinite Loop. Someone called to report a disturbance between Apple Security and the suspect. The suspect resisted arrest and fought with the officer on the ground. The suspect was then taken into custody and booked into the main jail.

Improper use of tear gas weapon--Feb. 23, 9:56 a.m. N. DeAnza Boulevard. The male victim said an unknown suspect cut him off as he drove north on Highway 280. The victim followed the suspect as he exited DeAnza Boulevard and stopped on the off ramp. The victim said he was then sprayed in the face by the suspect. The victim was transported to the hospital.

Stolen vehicle--Feb. 21, 2:49 p.m., Park Circle West at Alves Drive. Officers were dispatched for a report of a possible auto theft. Upon their arrival a vehicle matching the reporting party's description was found. The deputy attempted to enforce a traffic stop but the suspect fled the area. Deputy followed the vehicle and observed the two suspects getting out the vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen.

Possession of explosive device--Feb. 21, 4:56 p.m., Tiptoe Lane. An officer dispatched to a possible gunshot found two juveniles who told him they had detonated a chemical bomb in a plastic bottle. Both juveniles were cited and released to their parents.

Petty theft--Feb. 20, 6:24 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. The suspect stole $16 worth of food from the Whole Foods Market. The suspect, who had no prior thefts, was cited and released on scene.

Vandalism--Feb.20, 8:20 p.m., Arata Way. A woman reported that someone spray-painted the fence post at her residence. On Feb. 18 she said someone broke the passenger mirror of her vehicle.

Vehicle burglary--Feb. 20, 8:55 p.m., Bollinger Road. A woman reported that someone broke the window of her car and stole two bags with credit cards and personal belongings.

Assault and Battery--Feb. 19, 2:19 a.m., N. Foothill Boulevard. A male and female victim say they were assaulted by the suspect, a juvenile. Responding officers say the suspect had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage, red eyes and slurred speech. The suspect attempted to run away after bring ordered to stop and had to be physically restrained. The juvenile, who had marijuana in his possession, was cited and released to his parents.

Vandalism--Feb. 19, 7:00 a.m. Moretti Drive. A man reported that between Feb. 16 and 19 the passenger side window of his Nissan Maxima was damaged.

Grand theft--Feb. 19, 5:45 p.m., N. Wolfe Road. A woman says she left her unlocked car unattended for two to three minutes in a parking structure. When she returned she discovered two department store bags and other property missing from her car.
