Boys volleyball

Six of the best boys volleyball teams in the Santa Clara Valley and the Central Coast Section will exchange spikes and blocks, serves and rallies at Homestead on March 8.

The six-team, round-robin tournament will feature Leland and Willow Glen of the Blossom Valley Athletic League, Bellarmine and St. Francis of the West Catholic Athletic League and Los Gatos and host Homestead of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League. First matches of the daylong event begin at
8 a.m.

All six teams have players who competed in the 2007 CCS tournament. Willow Glen, Bellarmine, Homestead and St. Francis reached the CCS final four last spring, with the Bells sweeping the Mustangs in the championship match.

Youth soccer

The De Anza Youth Soccer League is registering boys and girls in kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade for its K and J Leagues and boys and girls for its under-8, under-10 and under-12 teams. Spring league sign-ups will be held at Creekside Park, 10455 Miller Ave., in Cupertino from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 8 and 22. For more information, visit eteamz.active.com/ DYSL_Rec_Program.

Force Black

The De Anza Force Black and Blue will hold tryouts for their girls teams on March 8, 10 a.m.-noon, at Garden Gate Elementary School in Cupertino. Force Black is coached by Foothill College women's coach Owen Flannery, along with Colin Corstorphine, and Force Blue is coached by former MLS player Shawn Medved.
