Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputes at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Possession of drug paraphernalia--March 9, 4:20 p.m., N. Wolfe Road at Vallco Parkway. Police noticed a suspicious vehicle on the top floor of a parking lot. Two people in the vehicle appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. The officer found two drug paraphernalia pipes. Both suspects were arrested and booked.

Found bicycle--March 7, 8:30 p.m., Johnson Avenue. An officer found a woman's blue 18-speed dirt bike in front of a home on Johnson Avenue.

Grand theft--March 7, 6:00 p.m., McClellan Road at Bubb Road. Someone left his unlocked bicycle in front of a store and went inside with his two friends. When he returned, the bike was gone.

Grand theft--March 7, 4:35 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. Someone stole $445 worth of merchandise from a store. A loss prevention officer stopped the suspect, who abandoned the cart and fled. Mountain View police arrested someone who matched the suspect's description.

Battery with injury--March 7, 1:15 p.m., McClellan Road at Bubb Road. A man was standing on a street corner when someone came up from behind, hit him in the back of the head and then continued to hit him in the face and head. The man sustained a 1-inch cut across his right eyebrow as well as many scratches and bruises.

Burglary--March 6, 7 p.m., Homestead Road. A woman used a pair of wire cutters to remove merchandise sensor tags from two purses, worth $460, from a store. She left without purchasing the merchandise and was arrested and booked into the main jail.

Attempted robbery--March 6, 10:30 p.m., Bandley Avenue. A woman says someone stopped a vehicle and asked her for directions. The suspect then reached out and grabbed the victim's purse. After a struggle the woman was able to pull her purse away.

Burglary--March 6, 10:10 p.m. Cristo Rey Drive. Someone smashed the front-door window of a locked car and stole a woman's personal property.

Auto burglary--March 5, 10:28 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard at Saich Avenue. Someone broke into a Suburban and stole $385 worth of property.

Auto burglary--March 5, 5:15 p.m., Cristo Rey Drive. Someone broke into a woman's car and stole her purse and $1,055 worth of property.

Grand theft--March 4, 10:25 p.m., N. De Anza Boulevard. A man was staying at the Cupertino Inn and was in the lounge when someone stole his computer bag, laptop, iPod, camera and passport.
