Block leader training set in Cupertino
Residents interested in becoming block leaders can attend an introductory training session on April 9. It is scheduled from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Cupertino Community Hall, 10350 Torre Ave.
Block leaders, who work as the contacts between city hall and their neighborhoods, can organize five to 90 homes and work with neighbors to improve safety and communication.

Teens invited to compete in poetry contest
Teens aspiring to become poets can test their writing skills and compete in the 2008 Teen Poetry Contest organized by Santa Clara County Library.
A $25 award will be given to the winner at each library branch.
Middle and high school categories are open to seventh- through 12th-grade students, and each contestant may enter up to three original poems. Poems must be entered by April 20.
Entry forms and poems can be submitted to a librarian or through the website at www.santaclaracounty.lib.org/teens.
High schools to help with fundraiser
Cupertino, Homestead and Monta Vista high schools are working together to help raise funds through the Fremont Union High School Foundation's annual crab feed.
This year's event takes place from 5:30 to 9 p.m. April 4 in the gymnasium at De Anza College, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd.
