Leonid Grin thought he had beaten this monster before. Two decades ago, in the process of emigrating from the Soviet Union, Maestro Grin says he was blackballed by the Russian symphony community. And when he reached his new home in New York, Grin's talents went unrecognized for a long spell. Today, Grin is a popular conductor with a full slate of worldwide appearances. But as the former conductor of the San Jose Symphony, he is frustrated once again.
