Community Concert series presents operatic program

Cellist Zvi Plesser and 'Ragtime Man' Max Morath have been scheduled for future concerts

Soprano Bridgett Hooks entertains Jan. 12 at 2:30 p.m. in Los Gatos High School's Prentiss Brown Auditorium as part of the the Los Gatos Community Concert Association series.

A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music, Hooks has received recognition in several musical and operatic competitions. In her dramatic lyrico-spinto voice, she will sing arias from works by Wagner, Verdi and Mozart. Also featured are songs by Samuel Barber, Fauré and a group by Rachmaninoff that Hooks sang in 1993 as part of the San Francisco Symphony's Russian Festival.

The 1996-97 season of Los Gatos Community Concerts kicked off Sept. 29 with the Banjomania band. Other artists scheduled for this season are cellist Zvi Plesser on Feb. 16 and "Ragtime Man" Max Morath on April 20. All concerts take place at 2:30 p.m. in the LGHS auditorium.
