Marie Kirkpatrick

Longtime Los Gatos resident Marie M. Kirkpatrick died Nov. 11 of natural causes at the age of 89.

Born April 3, 1907, in Columbus, Neb., Kirkpatrick was a former teacher, IBM office manager and Bank of the West officer. She lived in Los Gatos for the past 50 years.

Kirkpatrick is survived by many nieces and nephews. Private memorial services have been held.

Mario Toso

Mario J. Toso died at his Los Gatos residence Nov. 29 at the age of 88.

Born May 24, 1908, in Boulder Creek, he lived in San Francisco for a time, then settled in Los Gatos in 1946.

Toso was a co-owner of the Green Valley Disposal Company and the Guadalupe Landfill for 36 years. He was a member of the Saratoga Optimist Club and a lifetime member of the Los Gatos Elks Lodge.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Frank and Marcia Toso of San Jose and daughter and son-in-law Carole and Darryl Jacobs of St. George, Utah; grandson Brent Jacobs of San Jose; and two nieces.

Services have been held, with interment at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.

Leonard Feldheym

Leonard Feldheym, 80, a Saratoga resident for 48 years, died Dec. 29 of natural causes at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose.

Feldheym was an architect who designed a number of houses in Saratoga and Los Gatos, including one that received an award from Better Homes and Gardens, his wife Betty Feldheym said.

Feldheym was born in Chicago in Jan. 29, 1916, and was educated at UC-Berkeley, where he obtained a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in economics.

He began his architecture practice as a sole proprietor, then joined Allen DeGrange and Twain Reid in the San Jose firm of Feldheym, DeGrange and Reid, where he was able to pursue his dream of building affordable housing, his wife said. The firm built affordable housing projects in Morgan Hill, San Jose and Campbell.

"This was something he always wanted to do," his wife said. "He was on the Affordable Housing Committee of the Santa Clara County Council of Churches and on the Social Responsibility Committee of the Los Gatos Unitarian Fellowship."

Feldheym was active in the Saratoga Senior Center, the Los Gatos Unitarian Fellowship and the Peninsular Parkinson's Support Group.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, Feldheym leaves a daughter, Ellen Jackson of Sacramento, and two granddaughters, Jessica and Joycelyn Jackson, both students at UC-Davis.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Fellowship, 15980 Blossom Hill Road., Los Gatos. Donations may be sent to the Peninsula Parkinson's Support Group, 1170 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale, 94089-1605.
