Youth Football

The 1996 Pop Warner Football season may have just ended, but the local organization is trying to get a quick start on the 1997 campaign.

The Los Gatos Pop Warner group is looking for qualified adults (over the age of 18) interested in coaching football and cheer squads for the '97 season.

For information about becoming a volunteer coach, call Dave Szafranski at 291-6663. The Los Gatos Pop Warner program serves Los Gatos, Saratoga and Campbell.

Quito Sign-ups

The Quito Little League will hold signups for the 1997 season on Jan. 13, 15 and 22, 6-9 p.m. each night, in the cafeteria at Rolling Hills Middle School, Pollard Road at More Avenue in Los Gatos.

Players ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 1997) are eligible for the league and must provide a birth certificate for proof of age and a PG&E bill for proof of residency at the registration. An $80 donation is requested.

The league is also looking for umpires for the coming season. The league needs adult volunteers and is also looking for high school and college students who will be paid by the game. Full training will be provided.

Games begin in March and continue through June.

Boat Show returns

The San Francisco Sports & Boat Show returns to the Cow Palace in Daly City for the 55th year when the annual event opens Jan. 17 for its 10-day run.

The admission prices are $7 for adults and $3 for children, with senior citizens admitted for half price on weekdays.

Stars on Ice

Two-time Olympic champions Katarina Witt and Ekaterina Gordeeva will each make appearances when the Discover Stars on Ice Tour hits the San Jose Arena on Jan. 12, 4 p.m.

Tickets are priced at $42.50 and $29.50 and are available at the Arena box office and BASS locations.
