Los Gatos Weekly-TimesThe ProwlerThe Prowler would like to invite readers to tag along for a preview of art in three very different--but all very interesting--forms: that which can be seen, heard and tasted. On Jan. 14, the Los Gatos Museum of Fine Art and Natural Science unveils its latest exhibit, Textura. A presentation by two longtime Los Gatans, the show runs through Feb. 28 with a reception on Jan. 17 from 1-4 p.m. Painter Henri O'Connor, whose brush depicts a wide range of subjects, has taught life drawing and painting classes in adult education programs in Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell and San Jose. Textile artist Anne Lamborn works in experimental weaving techniques and is also known for her inclusion of metals. For those who prefer listening to creativity in motion, stop by Borders Books, Music & Cafe the last Sunday of every month for a chance to hear some up-and-coming local poets. On Sunday, Jan. 31, Los Gatos High School 9th- through 12th-graders will gather in the bookstore's Cafe Espresso, beginning at 7 p.m., for some pretty cool open-mic poetry readings. Kudos to LGHS English teacher Doug Garrett for organizing this enriching project. Potent potables and the process that makes them are the subject du jour on Jan. 16, when the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers' Association holds its Passport to the Wineries of the Santa Cruz Mountains. For $15 per passport, fans of the gourmet grape can visit more than 20 wineries on both sides of the hill for tours, tastings, picnics and some great photo-ops! The last this cat heard, three wineries each from Los Gatos and Saratoga were participating. Call 479-WINE for more info.
