Los Gatos Weekly-TimesWrestling history madeBy Dick SparrerBobby Pease and Matt Nudelman thought they were just wrestling. But the eighth-graders were doing more than that last month at the county championships at St. Francis High School in Mountain View. They were making Fisher wrestling history. Pease became the first Fisher wrestler in two decades to win back-to-back county titles, first as a seventh-grader and then as an eighth-grader. And Nudelman joined an elite list by wrapping up an undefeated season for the Trojans, clinching a 19-0 record with his victory in the county finals. At the county finals, Pease and Nudelman teamed with Cameron Fee and Eric Brown to represent Fisher and the West Section. Nudelman completed his perfect season with a convincing 8-1 victory in the finals at 85 pounds. It was an impressive finish to an outstanding middle school career for Nudelman, a two-time league champion who posted a 34-3 record over the past two seasons for the Trojans. Pease finished third in the league tournament, but defeated two league champions at the sectionals to win a place at the county finals. The 95-pounder nailed a 6-1 victory at St. Francis to claim his second straight county crown. Fee and Brown also advanced to the county championships, but each lost in the finals. Fee dropped a heartbreaking 4-2 overtime decision at 145 pounds and Brown lost 9-4 in the finals at 155 pounds. Fee finished the year with a 16-3 record for Fisher, and Brown ended up with a 14-5 mark. The four Trojans earned their spots in the county finals by finishing first at the sectional finals held at the King's Academy in Sunnyvale. The four topped a list of 10 Fisher placers at the meet. Pease, Nudelman, Fee and Brown were sectional champions, with Kevin Cho (90 pounds), Eddie Yip (110 pounds) and Miles Proctor (125 pounds) all in second, and B.J. Lawler (75 pounds), Holden Groves (80 pounds) and Scott Drew (135 pounds) all in third. Mikey Ross (100 pounds), Jeff Oleson (115 pounds), Cormac Ryan (165 pounds) and Zach Damron (175 pounds) also qualified for the sectionals.
