Town Chamber of Commerce stages a mixer

The Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce will hold an informal get-together for local business people to meet and mingle on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 5:30 p.m. at The Marketing Place, 246 W. Main Street.

Food and drinks will be served, and the Chamber advises those who wish to attend to bring plenty of cards and brochures.

Cost is $5 per person.

A place in 'history' for Monte Sereno?

Monte Sereno is looking for a resident interested in serving on the city's Historical Preservation Committee, which meets during the day twice each month at City Hall.

The committee is collecting information for a presentation to the City Council on pieces of the past in Monte Sereno, such as Beat icon Neal Cassady's house, the site of Billy Jones' Wildcat Railroad, Claravale Dairy, the Austin Way gas and service station, the old city offices and Monte Sereno founder Adm. Tom Inglis' house.

The committee member will be appointed for a two-year term.

Jackson named to league committee

Monte Sereno Mayor Suzanne Jackson has been appointed to the League of California Cities' Committee on Public Safety.

The committee meets five times each year to discuss legislation on issues such as domestic violence, hate crimes and drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs.

Jackson will represent the San Francisco Peninsula Division to the committee.
