Donetta Simonson

Donetta "Donnie" Peyton Simonson, a longtime Los Gatan and wife of Los Gatos High School Principal Ted Simonson, died Dec. 21 at the age of 69.

She was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Southern California, where she also grew up. In Los Gatos, she was a secretary at the Christian Science Church for many years.

Her interests included reading and visiting Yosemite--her last trip was this past autumn with LGHS marching-band leader Judy Bingman and the band. Simonson also loved to cook and was well-known for serving up delicious family dinners for extended family members and many friends.

Survivors include husband Ted Simonson of Los Gatos; daughters Karen Rippberger and Laura Ricksecker, both of Los Gatos; granddaughters Bonnie, Ellen and Jessica; brothers Leonard Peyton of Alaska and Sidney Peyton of Washington; and sister Anita Johnson of Oregon.

Donations may be made to the First Church of Christ, Scientist, to support projects that are planned. The address is 238 E. Main St., Los Gatos, 95030.

Peter D'Addio

Los Gatos resident Peter D'Addio died of heart failure Dec. 23 at the age of 86.

A native of New Haven, Conn., D'Addio grew up on a farm as one of 13 children and learned early on the value of hard work and family ties. He was once superintendent of the Andrew B. Hendrix Company and worked most recently for his son Michael's Silicon Valley company, Videonics.

"A man who never really retired, [he] was an incredibly dedicated and hard worker his entire life," Michael recalls. "But he loved to work because he loved to help people. He was truly a friend to everyone he met."

D'Addio was a dedicated sports fan. Among his favorite sporting teams were the Boston Red Sox and the San Jose Sharks. He also enjoyed attending his grandsons' ice hockey and soccer games. D'Addio was a member of the Sons of Italy and Sons in Retirement (SIRS).

Survivors include wife Anna D'Addio of Los Gatos; daughter Anna Morrison of Mountain View; son Michael D'Addio of Monte Sereno; grandsons Frank and Thomas Carruba and Michael and Mark D'Addio; great-grandchildren Alexis, Peter and Chloe D'Addio; brothers Jerry and James D'Addio of Connecticut and sisters Theresa Entrudo, Mary Parillo and Josephine Ruggerio, all of Connecticut.

Memorial services have been held, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Almaden Blvd., Suite 500, San Jose, 95113 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 26007, San Jose, 95159.
