    Late Nite Catechism

Sister, played by Maripat Donovan, returns to Los Gatos Jan. 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. each night to teach adult catechism to a room full of adults at Howley Hall, St. Mary's Church, 219 Bean Ave. 'Late Nite Catechism' is an uproarious piece of theater that takes the audience (members of the class) back to the children they once were. Over the course of the play, Sister goes from benevolent instructor, rewarding students with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and laminated saint cards, to authoritative drill sergeant. Sound familiar? Critics say one needn't be a Catholic to relate to Sister; one need merely to have survived the ups and downs of going to school with an omniscient authoritarian at the helm. 'Late Nite Catechism', by Vicki Quade and Donovan, was a big hit when it played at St. Mary's in 2000. The event benefits the Sisters of Holy Names Retirement Fund. Tickets are $35 and are available by calling 408.395.7356.
