    Police Report

    Controlled Substance--Jan. 6, 12:44 a.m. Police conducted a traffic stop near University and Mullen avenues. One of the men inside the car was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and had two warrants from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office: a $597 warrant for riding a bicycle under the influence and $34 for a city code violation. The other man was arrested for possessing a controlled substance and possessing brass knuckles.

    Burglary--Jan. 6, 6:45 a.m. An unknown person entered a hair salon on N. Santa Cruz Avenue through the skylight. The person spray-painted the wall inside. Police tried to track down a man in his 50s who was seen walking in front of the business and then walking away. A report was taken.

    Possession of Marijuana--Jan. 5, 11:19 a.m. A 21-year-old man was sleeping on a bench on University Avenue. Police confronted the man and found that there was a no-bail warrant for his arrest from the county sheriff's office for a DUI.

    Missing Person--Jan. 5, 5:18 p.m. Staff at Emmanuel Convalescent Hospital reported one of their residents missing, who had not been seen for 20 minutes. Police issued a bulletin; somebody from a service station called to report that a person fitting the description and with an arm band matching the name of the missing person, was at the station. The man was transported home. A report was taken.

    Warrant Served--Jan. 4, 1:33 a.m. A man driving along Carlton Avenue was stopped. There was a $6,000 warrant from San Jose police for his arrest, charging him for driving without the proper vehicle tags, expired registration and driving with a suspended license. He was arrested and his car was impounded.

    Suspicious Vehicle--Jan. 4, 9:44 a.m. A Belhaven Drive resident requested help with a contractor who had left two vehicles behind on the property and removed some locking latches from the door jambs. After interviewing the reporting party, police found that the contractor worked for an elderly resident who was afraid of him, and the contractor was no longer welcome on the property. The contractor was suspended and had a criminal record that included charges for resisting arrest, stealing a car, a hit-and-run accident, trespassing, indecent exposure, possessing stolen property and false identification. A report was taken.

    Disturbance--Jan. 4, 5:40 p.m. A woman said her ex-boyfriend was harassing her at work; he had prior reports on file with San Jose and Morgan Hill police, she said. The woman requested to meet with police at her friend's house, where they gave her domestic violence referrals and information on how to get a restraining order. No report was taken.
