Los Gatos Weekly-TimesSports BriefsVikes top Jags They were ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the state heading into their Friday night game. And nothing happened to change that ranking when the powerful West Valley Community College and San Jose City College men's basketball teams collided last week. Sophomore Darrell Teat poured in 32 points to lead the Vikings to an impresive 86-78 victory over the Jaguars. The win left West Valley 19-2 for the season and 1-0 in the Coast Conference. The Vikings will hit the road this week to visit Ohlone in Fremont on Jan. 21, 7:30 p.m., before hosting rival De Anza Community College on Jan. 23, 7 p.m. The San Jose women, meanwhile, improved to 21-1 for the year and to 4-0 in the Coast Conference with a lopsided 74-55 win over De Anza Community College on Friday night. The Jaguars are currently No. 2 in the state rankings. Arbatisha Kitchen pumped in 19 points and Cortney Keegan (St. Francis) tossed in 18 to lead the Jaguars to the easy win. Christina Lombardo (Leigh) added nine points and Nina Vinther (Los Gatos) hit eight. Earlier in the week, the Jaguars had whipped Hartnell 90-52 behind a 20-point effort by Kitchen.
