Monte Sereno mayor honors several citizens
Monte Sereno Mayor Jack Lucas gave keys to the city to four residents at the Jan. 15 city council meeting. Lucas commended Nancy Hobbs, Paul Oliver, Fred Hawkes and Cathy Foscato for their service to the community. Hobbs, Oliver and Hawkes are former city council members, and Foscato has been active in the Saratoga Library for many years.
College district names new board president
Nancy Rucker, 2001 president of the West Valley-Mission Community College District Board of Trustees, turned over the gavel Dec. 13 to trustee Robert T. Owens. Owens will serve as president and trustee Chris Constantin will serve as vice president, of the board in 2002. Although trustee Joy Atkins served as vice president in 2001, she declined the board's nomination.
Owens, a Santa Clara resident, is a retired attorney who worked as a deputy Santa Clara County counsel for 19 years. He graduated from Santa Clara University with degrees in law and civil engineering. Owens volunteers for an English as a second language program and is a member of the Santa Clara Civil Service Commission.
Chamber of Commerce holds mixer
The Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce holds a Sweetheart Mixer Feb. 5 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the California Café, 50 University Ave.
Cost is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. For reservations, call 408.354.9300 or 408.395.5951.
