    The Prowler

Although felines aren't known for their musical talent--unless one considers caterwauling to be melodious--we do appreciate good music when we hear it.

One example is the Echoes of Winter concert series at Mirassou Champagne Cellars in Los Gatos at 300 College Ave. The quiet, woodsy venue hosts James Robinson, a solo Flamenco guitarist, Feb. 3. The concert runs from 1 to 3 p.m., although the cellars are open noon to 5 p.m. for visiting, tasting or picnicking. Admission is free. The next Echo of Winter in Los Gatos isn't until mid-March, but don't worry--the Prowler will provide a preview beforehand. For directions to the cellars, call 408.395.3790.

Speaking of ethnic music, this cat is excited about the 16th annual Celtic Concert, which as usual takes place in the Prentiss Brown Auditorium at Los Gatos High School. This year, the shindig is Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and features three different bagpipe bands! Other entertainment includes Scottish highland dancers, Irish step dancers and an eclectic Celtic band called Molly's Revenge.

Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children, including refreshments. For tickets, call 408.356.1747 or 408.265.1008. The Prowler definitely plans to attend, but will definitely not be underfoot when those feet are flying!

This has nothing to do with music, but this cat was amused to hear of the Super Mom Picture Contest, sponsored by The Maids home services and KB Toys. Kids ages 7-12 draw or paint the reason why they think their mothers are the best of the best. Wining entries earn various amounts of maid service for the mother and toys for the kids. For all the details, visit www.maids.com/pr0_release18.asp on the web.
