All elementary schools in the Los Gatos Union School District will hold orientation tours for parents of new students on Feb. 7, March 7 and April 3. All orientations begin at 9 a.m. Parents should sign up ahead of time at the office of the school in which they are interested.
The Berkeley-based Lawrence Hall of Science will present its traveling science fair on Jan. 26 at St. Andrew's School in Saratoga .
This year's theme, "Math-O-Rama," will feature booths set up with various hands-on experiments, games and puzzles in which students, teachers and parents can work together and expand upon the children's natural curiosity about science.
Nearly one quarter of St. Andrew's families live in Los Gatos.
Parents who may be confused about the best ways to raise their teenage children may attend this year's Systematic Training for Effective Parenting Class for Teens, which begins Feb. 21.
The nine-week course, which meets from 7 to 10 p.m. in room L-7 at Los Gatos High School, teaches realistic, effective and enjoyable ways for parents and teens to relate. Cost is $60 for individuals and $80 for couples, which includes materials.
