    Pony Baseball sets tryouts over next two weekends

    Los Gatos Pony Baseball will holds tryouts for players ages 13-14 on Saturdays, Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, at Fisher Middle School--9 a.m. for 14-year-olds and 10:30 a.m. for 13-year-olds. A player must attend one of the two tryout sessions or he cannot be drafted. For information, call Ken Rodrigues at 408.993.0700, ext. 18.

    Los Gatos Colt is accepting signups for players ages 15-16 for the summer season. For information, call Ira Holtzman at 408.356.5535.

    Youth Signups

    Area youth baseball and softball leagues continue to hold signup sessions for the 2000 season:

    Los Gatos Little League--The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 2000). Proof of age is required, and players must reside in the Los Gatos Little League boundaries to be eligible. A non-refundable donation of $150 per player is requested ($100 for T-ball), with a maximum donation of $300 per family. The league will feature five divisions. Players ages 10-12 are required to participate in tryouts Jan. 29 and Feb. 5. The league is also soliciting sponsors, and needs parents to volunteer to become managers and coaches and to perform other duties within the organization.     Girls Softball--For more information about the 2000 softball season for girls living in Los Gatos and Saratoga, call Cindy Battaglia at 408.354.1176.

    Quito Little League--The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 2000). Players from parts of Campbell, Los Gatos and Saratoga are eligible for the league. Call 408.943.4707 or contact the league's website at www.quitoll.org for more information.
