Villa Montalvo hosts 'The Griffin Collection'

    The Prowler

Last week's column was all about animals; this week's column is all about art! At most, that makes the Prowler a AAA-rated columnist--at worst, an overly alliterative cat.

Either way, the Prowler is overwhelmed at all the interesting art-related events in and around Los Gatos in the coming weeks. Here's a sample: The latest installation of Art in the Council Chambers is a show of amazing talent by Los Gatos High School art students. An artists' reception, with refreshments prepared by LGHS's Home Economics students, takes place Jan. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Council Chambers, located downstairs in the Civic Center, 110 E. Main St. Everyone is welcome. The show runs through Feb. 25.

Opening Feb. 3 and running through April is a revolutionary (pun intended!) new exhibit at Forbes Mill Regional History Museum titled Los Gatos at War. According to this cat's friends in the Los Gatos Museum Association, the exhibit explores how Los Gatans have been affected by various wars. The Prowler's calendar is already marked for Feb. 27 from noon to 4 p.m.--the date of the public reception! Forbes Mill is located at 75 Church St.

Just in time for Groundhog Day comes a great little exhibit from our neighbor down Highway 9, Saratoga. From Feb. 1-27, Gallery Saratoga has its second annual Paws and Claws group show, which features paintings, photography, pottery, silk art, jewelry and other handmade items by the gallery's members. Let's hear it for animal-themed art! (The Prowler admits a bit of feline prejudice on this front.) A reception is set for Feb. 6 from 1-4 p.m. Gallery Saratoga is located at 14531 Big Basin Way, Unit. 3.
