Big wrestling match coming up for Cats

    Roller Hockey

    The spring season begins Feb. 4 for the roller hockey club teams at Los Gatos High School. The school hopes to field two teams--varsity and junior varsity--for the inline hockey program.

    All games and practices will be held at Rollin' Ice at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on Tully Road in San Jose. JV games are played on Friday evenings with varsity games played on Saturday evenings.

    All players must be students at Los Gatos High. Signup forms are available in the main office. For more information, interested skaters can call Tim Lundell at 408.354.7934 or Randy Frey at 408.356.1424.

    Valentine Run

    The annual Valentine Run returns to Campbell in February. The 5K/10K run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. on Feb. 12 at the Water Tower Plaza in downtown Campbell. The cost is $15 before Feb. 4. For more information, call 408.866.2105.

    All-Comers Meet

    An all-comers track and field meet will be held Jan. 29, 12:30 p.m., at the Los Gatos High School track. The event will feature divisions for open, high school boys, women, girls and masters. The cost is $3. For more information, call Willie Harmatz at 408.354.7365.

    Sports Grants

    The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame announces that applications are available for the organization's 2000 Youth Fund grants. Nonprofit youth organizations and schools are eligible to apply for the grants which provide needed sports equipment.

    The deadline for returning completed grant applications is Jan. 31. For more information, call 415.352.8827. Grants will be distributed in the summer of 2000.
