Grants available to community groups
The town of Los Gatos has more than $3,000 available to give to qualified community agencies.
According to Community Services Director Regina Falkner, the town has $2,000 of a $5,000 grant it received last year through the Smythe European Empowerment Drive, and the car dealership recently awarded the town another $1,075.
"We got the initial grant about six months ago," Falkner says. "At the time, Smythe said they would give us $25 for each car they sold to a Los Gatos resident."
Applications for the grant monies are available from the town and are due by March 8. The groups that initially received funding through SEED are: A Place for Teens, the Live Oak Adult Daycare Center, Family Service Association, the Emergency Housing Consortium, the Santa Clara County Nutrition Program and the San Jose State University Foundation's Health Place.
