Work stopped at the Village House The renovation and remodeling project that was supposed to have transformed the now-defunct Village House restaurant into a fancy gourmet eatery by this spring has hit a few snags. Eastfield Ming Quong, which owns the property, discovered that it's going to take a lot more work than originally thought to bring the building up to code. EMQ says that the bathrooms aren't handicap-accessible and it has discovered that the walls are hollow and will need to be seismically reinforced. Bill Foss and Andy Welch, who will be leasing the space and running the restaurant, originally said they wanted to have the restaurant open last August. The target date was switched to March, but now EMQ says more delays are inevitable. EMQ has hired a structural expert, but as yet, there is no word on what needs to be done.
