Doyle Baseball Clinic returns to Los Gatos

By Dick Sparrer

Baseball coaches are teachers--at least, for most of the year.

But the coaches of the Los Gatos youth leagues will be learning their baseball lessons right along with players when the Doyle Baseball Clinic comes to town Feb. 21-22.

The Los Gatos Little League, in conjunction with the Los Gatos Pony League, will host the clinic that will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Feb. 21 and noon-5 p.m. on Feb. 22 at Blossom Hill Park.

The clinic is open to youth players ages 6-14, and is also required for all coaches in the Los Gatos youth leagues. The fee is $70 per player ($80 after Feb. 12).

Players will be evaluated early in the clinic to determine their strengths.

Registration for the clinic will be accepted at regular Little League tryouts set for Feb. 7 at Blossom Hill Park. Tryouts will also offer the final opportunity for players to sign up for the 1998 season. Tryout times are 9 a.m. for 12-year-olds, 10 a.m. for 11-year-olds, 11 a.m. for 10-year-olds and 1 p.m. for 9-year-olds.
