Fisher's Kane wins tourney MVP honors

Ben Kane was picked the tournament MVP after the Fisher Middle School eighth grade basketball team won the Willow Glen Invitational.

Kane was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Matt Swanson. Other members of the championship team included Joey Warren, Michael Franchi, Brian Conlon, Brian Starr, Brandon Burke, Gavilan Hernandez, Marc Walleen, Adam Dallas, Sangick Jeon, Brandon Fong and Matt Hintz.

The Fisher sixth-graders, meanwhile, improved to 4-0 this season with wins over Rogers Middle School and Dartmouth.

James Murray and Andrew O'Gorman led the offense, and John Branch and Tyler Doyle starred defensively in the 49-24 win over Rogers.

David Barden led all scorers for Fisher in the 31-16 win over Dartmouth. Bryan Schiefelbein and Alex Rollin were other offensive stars in the win, and Nick Kay, Travis Howell and Alex Rollin led the defense.

Fisher had opened the week with wins over Redwood, 35-26, and Ida Price, 36-24. Patrick Murphy, Geoff Hubbard, Kyle Gisler, Rory Bauer, Aaron Goldfarb and Scott Ferguson were big contributors in the two wins.
