Choral music planned for evensong service

St. Luke's Episcopal Church, at 20 University Ave., invites the community to attend its second evensong service and concert for 2002 on Feb. 10, beginning at 4 p.m.

The afternoon begins with the church's traditional evening prayer service, some of which will be sung by the Chancel Choir of the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos, accompanied by St. Luke's organist Edie Marshall.

Afterward, the Chancel Choir will perform a half-hour candlelight concert of choral music. The choir is directed by Victor Floyd, who came to the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos from Georgia in July 2000. In Atlanta, he taught at Emory University, moderated More Light Presbyterians and served as director of music for the North Decatur Presbyterian Church. His other credits include San Francisco Opera's Merola Program and leading roles with the Milwaukee Skylight Opera Theatre.

Other scheduled performers for the evensong series include violinist Christina Mok, soprano singer Michelle Wardrip and organist Gail Archer.

Everyone is welcome at Evensong. There is no charge for the concerts, but a freewill offering will be accepted. The 2001-2002 Evensong series runs the first Sunday of the month through May--except February, due to a conflict with the Super Bowl. For more information, call 408.354.2195.
