    Police Report

Threats--Jan. 30, 12:11 p.m. A Monte Sereno resident received phone calls from a man in Idaho. The man's wife had run away to Tahoe with the Monte Sereno resident's estranged husband, and the man kept calling for information on her husband. The woman considered obtaining a temporary restraining order but decided to request additional patrol checks on her house.

Injured Person--Jan. 30, 7:35 a.m. On the corner of N. Santa Cruz and Almendra avenues, an injured man was sitting on the sidewalk. The man had fallen down because of the ice on the ground. The Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Department was notified.

Alarm--Jan. 30, 4:12 a.m. A Blossom Hill Road business had an alarm, that went off due to motion activation. Police found that the window above the front door had been smashed and contacted the person responsible for turning off the alarm. Someone had entered the store and taken some property. A witness had seen a subject near the business at around 4 a.m. A report was taken.

DUI--Jan. 26, 12:55 a.m. Police conducted a traffic stop on Los Gatos Boulevard and Nino Avenue, thinking the driver was intoxicated. Police arrested the driver and charged him with driving under the influence, possessing marijuana and driving without a license.

Spouse Beating--Jan. 25, 6:18 p.m. Police received a hang-up call and the number was busy upon callback. When they went to the resident, they found a man hitting his wife and banging her head on the table. There were no weapons, drugs or alcohol involved. The man told people that his wife had hit him on his face; she was upset that he didn't like her haircut. Two small children in the house had witnessed the incident. The woman complained of neck and head pain; she was given medical care and police assisted her in getting an emergency protection restraining order. Her husband was arrested and charged with spouse beating.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle--Jan. 27, 7:40 p.m. The owner of a car reported stolen from Scotts Valley called police, saying the car was at a Lora Drive residence. Police went to the house and recovered the car, but couldn't find the suspect who had been named. Police released the car, which had not been damaged, to the owner. A report was taken.

Prowler--Jan. 25, 9:52 p.m. A Fancher Court resident said an unknown person had tried to open the front door earlier that evening, when the babysitter was home with the kids. The babysitter looked outside and saw someone running away. The resident suspected that the person was associated with the solicitors in the area and wanted to rob his house; a few days earlier, the resident had let one inside briefly. Police agreed to do extra patrol checks.

Solicitors--Jan. 24, 7:09 a.m. A solicitor went around the Vista del Monte neighborhood. One of the residents said she didn't want anything, but the solicitor returned later in the day, where the husband told him he didn't want to buy anything. The solicitor, however, said he would be back the next day. Police cited the solicitor, an 18-year-old man with a driver's license from Los Angeles, for violating town code and soliciting without a permit.
