ARMED ROBBERS HOLD UP THE 7-ELEVEN STORE

By Shari Kaplan

Two men carrying guns held up a 7-Eleven store and fled with an undisclosed amount of money in the early morning hours of Jan. 26.

Los Gatos police officers at 12:55 a.m. responded to an alarm at the store, 16250 Los Gatos Blvd. The first officer arrived at 12:56 a.m. and determined the robbery had occurred about four minutes earlier, said LGPD Sgt. Tricia Friedrich.

The store clerk, who was uninjured, described the subjects as heavily built men about 6 feet tall, wearing ski masks and dark clothing; one also wore a hooded sweatshirt.

According to police reports, the suspects entered the store armed with pistols and demanded that the clerk open the cash register drawer. They left on foot with an unspecified amount of cash. No suspicious vehicle was seen leaving the premises.

LGPD officers have advised San Jose and Campbell police and the county Sheriff's Department of the crime, Friedrich said.

Los Gatos police later served a search warrant at a San Jose residence that they thought was associated with the robbery suspects, but their search turned out negative, she said.

San Jose Police spokesman Louis Quezada said Thursday that the SJPD has made several recent arrests of subjects involved in convenience-store robberies. The police are investigating to see whether any of the cases may be related to the 7-Eleven robbery in Los Gatos.
