Alice Haddad
Los Gatos resident Alice L. Haddad died Jan. 9 at Emmanuel Convalescent Hospital, Los Gatos. She was 81.
Born Aug. 26, 1914 in Utica, N.Y., Haddad had resided in Santa Clara County for 36 years. She was predeceased by daughter Rita Buchanan and is survived by daughters Loretta Long of Los Gatos and Paula Beck of Fresno; son James Haddad; brother Louis Lebbad; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
Clyde Hedricks
Clyde Joseph Hedricks, a longtime Los Gatos resident, died Jan. 8 at the age of 87.
A native of Sonora, Calif., Hedricks was born Aug. 4, 1908. In his early years, he and a partner performed on the vaudeville circuit. He came to Los Gatos in 1933 and was one of the first employees of PG&E, which had just introduced natural gas to the area at the time. He retired after 42 years of service.
Hedricks was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping in 11 Western states, including Alaska.
Survivors include son Jack and daughter-in-law Barbara Hedricks of Los Gatos; brother George Van Leeuen of Palmdale, Calif.; sister Beverly Metz of Yucaipa, Calif.; grandchildren Bob, Cindy, Mark and Allyson Hedricks, Kim Head, Julie Williams and Jennifer Mesa; and two great-grandchildren. Hedricks was predeceased by his wife, Marie, and sons Charles and Eugene.
Private services were held at Los Gatos Memorial Park, with ashes to be scattered later this year in the Sierra.
Mildred Lutticken
Mildred B. Lutticken of Los Gatos died Dec. 30 at the age of 84.
A second-generation San Franciscan, Lutticken was born July 31, 1911. She moved to Los Gatos from her San Francisco home in 1978 after the death of her husband, Harry F. Lutticken, to whom she was married for more than 42 years. She immediately became a familiar face at her daughter's Los Gatos shop, Bears in the Wood. Lutticken made many friends among the employees, bear artists and customers during the past 17 years. She also enjoyed her "grandchildren," Bosco the dog and Jasper the cat.
"She wrote up receipts, she answered phones. . . . She was really a big part of the store. She came down to have fun," daughter Janee McKinney recalled.
Lutticken is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Howard McKinney of Los Gatos; brother Milton Broderson of Santa Rosa; five nieces; four nephews; and numerous other relatives.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Olivet Memorial Park, Colma. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1475 S. Bascom Ave., Campbell, 95008.
Robert Olson
Longtime Los Gatan Robert H. Olson died at his home Dec. 7 at the age of 73.
The South Dakota native was born Oct. 19, 1922, and settled here when he was in his 20s. Olson began working at the Little Village Market--now Pedro's--in 1948. He also worked in Los Gatos at Purity Store until its closure. He continued his career at Mayfair Markets and Brentwood Supermarket until his retirement. Olson was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers' Union for 38 years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Olson of Los Gatos; daughters Carol Adams of Los Gatos and Sheryl Mize of Clayton, Calif.; son Robert J. Olson of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren; four sisters; and one brother.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Los Gatos Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 330 Distel Circle, Suite A, Los Altos, 94022.
Rodney Williams
Former Los Gatan Rodney Alexander Williams died at his Oroville home Jan. 28. He was 90.
Born April 16, 1905 in San Francisco, Williams ran an automobile dealership in the Butte County area for many decades. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Oroville, SIRS of Oroville and the Oroville Masonic Lodge #103 F and AM. He also enjoyed golf and horseback riding.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Williams of Oroville; daughter Beverly and son-in-law Howard Winegarden of Grants Pass, Ore.; stepson Robert W. Cope of Concord, Calif.; sister Mildred Granlund of Chattanooga, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Williams was predeceased by son John Williams and sister Thelma Thomsen.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Los Gatos Memorial Park. Donations may be made to Butte County Hospice, 10 Constitution Drive, Chico, 95928, or to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, Northern California Unit, P.O. Box 21-4477, Sacramento, 95821.
