Cellist Avi Plesser
The second of the Los Gatos Community Concert Association's 1997 concerts features cellist Zvi Plesser, who will perform Feb. 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Los Gatos, located at 19 High School Ct.
A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Plesser began studying cello as an 8-year-old in his native Israel. Upon moving to Illinois three years later, Plesser continued his studies, which later included tutoring by the principal cellist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Plesser enjoys the cello because he says it is the musical instrument most like the human voice in range and sound.
He has played cello with many symphony orchestras throughout the United States and several major orchestras in Europe. He also performs at recitals and makes recordings.
The next artist scheduled for this season is "Ragtime Man" Max Morath on April 20. The Los Gatos Community Concert Association again has a limited number of complimentary tickets available for students in middle or high school.
